On an August night in 2010, in a quite room in a village in England, Sara is on Facebook. She sees a world around her that is changing, and she is bitterly complaining to her online friends of these changes and the ramifications that these changes will have on her, her family and the UK in general. But suddenly the realism hits her - her “moaning” on Facebook will not make any difference. What she needed was a movement, an organisation that will allow her “voice” to be heard.
It was on that night the the British Patriots Society was born.
The British Patriots Society mission is simple. To keep people up to date in the changes that are affecting the United Kingdom and to support worthy causes and campaigns. For Sara, the UK was changing quickly yet there seemed to be no discussion about these changes. Mainstream media gave an impression that anyone who disagreed with these changes were regarded as “racist” yet Sara's concerns were not racist, she just wanted her voice to be heard and to be listened to with respect.
One of the aims of the British Patriots Society is to maintain “British values” but to Sara's surprise, this aim has been attacked as there is a consensus by some that there is no such thing as “British Values”. Sara answers this directly by citing examples of “British Values” such as wanting the best for your country. A cohesive society - different types of people living together in a united way. She also says that traditions, be that fish and chips, a Sunday roast, bonfire night or bog snorkelling represent British Values.
Some have the impression that the British Patriot Society is connected in some way with the English Defence League and right winged parties such as the British National Party. Sara is quick to point out that the BNP is a political party which is completely different from British Patriots Society.
In respect of the EDL, Sara says that the EDL focus is “Islamic extremist “while the British Patriots Society is a group of like minded individuals who keep up to date with current events and be a platform for their users to voice their opinion whether that is by merely posting on their Facebook page or attending British Patriots Demonstrations.
When asked of the “immigration question”, Sara is candid when she says that she believes that all immigration should be stopped immediately until the UK can reach a “balance immigration policy”. She believes that there has been insufficient investment in the current infrastructure to cope with immigration levels at the present level.

1. Can you give us a brief history of why the BPS was founded?
2. What are the aims of BPS?
3. There is an argument that there is no such thing as "British values". How would describe British Values?
Respect for other people which is intrinsic to a peaceful society.
A cohesive society - different types of people living together in a united way
Tradition – whether that be fish and chips, a Sunday roast, bonfire night or bog snorkelling
Accepting eccentricity
The family. Civic society depends on values being passed from generation to generation. Stable families are the essential ingredient of a stable society.
To name a few.
4. What distinguishes you from the BNP and other movements like the EDL?
Well the BNP is a political party for one, we aren’t and we have totally different views. The EDL tend to focus on one subject only, that being of Islamic extremists.
The BPS is a politically aware, active group of likeminded people. We keep people up-to-date on events affecting the UK and give people the opportunity to voice their objections, whether that be peacefully demonstrating or putting pen to paper. As the saying goes knowledge is power.
5. Yes I’d like to ask Sara Roocroft, if she acknowledges the power 'state' has syrupticiously /illegally obtained over us by means of our birth certificate cum estate? And if so, what steps are taken to redress this matter in court. Do we have snowballs...?
I think that’s something you need to take up with your MP. Data retention is not something we have considered.
6. Devalution: BPS is obviously about Britain. How would BPS satisfy the many pulls of the many arguements for devolution and independence. What is best to bring the Union together?
Regardless of which country gains independence, living on an Island is always going to unite us in some way shape or form. The BPS believe we are stronger together, and seeing as we are not a political party that’s all I can say on the matter.
7. Is there a danger of the BPS being infiltrated by extremist and what measure is in place to prevent this.
The BPS is self-governed and like any organisation can be infiltrated. I think you’d find it hard to name an organisation that doesnt have infiltrators. But we do our utmost to protect the BPS from this and try to monitor the Facebook page at all times. Of course nobody is perfect and some posts or comments can slip through the net. If we are having a demo or march we have our own stewards so if any troublemakers or extremists turn up they can be swiftly ejected.
8. If you were in power, how would you tackle the immigration question?
Firstly we would stop all immigration. Until a time when we can achieve "Balanced Migration" that is to bring the level of immigration down towards the level of emigration. The basis for immigration control is nationality, not race. It you are a French or German citizen of whatever race, you have free access to Britain. Equally, if you are a non-EU citizen you do not have free access.
We have not really considered this issue, but our priorities would be coordinated towards promoting growth in British industry above all else.
10. How would you tackle alternative energy issues?
We have not discussed the subject of alternative energy but we do think that a move away from oil generated power has got to be a positive move.
11. What are your views on the NHS and the benefits system?
The NHS is being let down by the government, too many cutbacks. More money is needed to improve care and a total shake up is needed regarding staff. As for the benefits system we believe nothing should be free if you are capable of working. Projects that are needed to be done in communities could be achieved by benefit claimants. Of course there would be exceptions to the rule for example, disabilities and carers.
There will now be an interactive Q&A on PUK, enjoy!
